Applications are now open for the Pozen Center’s Dr. Aizik Wolf Post-Baccalaureate Fellowship, which awards $56,000 to a recent or imminent UChicago College undergraduate to support their entry into the professional human rights space.

The award, which is offered during even-numbered years, supports one year of work at a non-governmental organization, government agency, or international body dedicated to human rights. It is named for Dr. Aizik Wolf (AB’77), a longtime supporter of UChicago. 

Previous fellows have worked at organizations from Chicago to Bogota to New Delhi, on issues related to labor, gender, religion, criminal justice, youth rights, and land conservation. The most recent fellow, Will Jaffe, AB‘22, worked in the research department at Physicians for Human Rights; at the end of his fellowship, he accepted a job at the organization.

This year’s fellowship will be given to a student who graduated in 2023 or who will graduate in 2024. The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to make a significant contribution to the host organization. They will also show a record of leadership, involvement, and commitment to human rights and social impact.

Priority will be given to human rights majors and minors who have completed a Human Rights Internship, but applicants with comparable experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
