Applications are now open for the 2024-2025 cohort of the Pozen Family Center for Human Rights Doctoral Fellows Program, an intensive yearlong forum for UChicago doctoral students whose research intersects with human rights themes.
Fellows, drawn from across the University, meet throughout the academic year, typically three times per quarter. The purpose of these workshops is to enrich the participants’ work––whether a section of a dissertation or an article in preparation––with workshop-style feedback and exposure to the perspective of other disciplines.
At the end of the year, fellows are joined by faculty from UChicago and other universities (both domestic and international) in a seminar where they receive additional feedback on their papers.
The current cohort of fellows includes students from philosophy, political science, history, anthropology, German, social work, cinema and media studies, sociology, and Near Eastern languages,
Doctoral fellows receive a $3,000 stipend and financial support for conference attendance. They are also eligible for an additional grant to support research fieldwork.
Preference is given to applicants who have already defended their dissertation proposal.
Applications are due April 24, at 11:59 p.m. CT. Apply now. For more information, contact Professor Kathleen Cavanaugh.
