Niklas Plaetzer

Niklas is a PhD candidate in political theory at the University of Chicago and Sciences Po Paris. Niklas's work turns to the history of political thought to address problems of democratic practice.

By recovering radical republican institution-building projects from the mid-19th century, Niklas hopes to open up new ways of thinking about the relation between social movements and political forms today.

Niklas holds an MA from the University of Chicago (2021), and MA and BA degrees from Sciences Po Paris. Niklas's academic writings have appeared in Political Theory, Modern Intellectual History, Nineteenth-Century French Studies, and Historical Materialism, among other places.
